What is overnight care?
With overnight care, a carer comes to your loved one's home for the night. They help with night-time needs, make regular check-ins and are on hand if your loved one wakes or needs help, so someone is with them through the night.
It can help someone who needs support or supervision at night to keep living in their own home rather than moving to a care home, and the family can rest knowing they are looked after. Our carers are trained healthcare assistants, not nurses: they give personal, practical support rather than clinical care. We are a private, independent provider, not part of the HSE, and our carers work alongside your GP, public health nurse and any HSE support already in place.
How does overnight care work?
A standard overnight shift is 8 hours of active care from a waking carer who is on hand through the night. It is never a sleep-through service. Shifts follow your loved one's routine, typically 10pm to 6am, and can be extended to 12 hours if needed.
You choose which nights of the week and which hours the carer works, in line with your care package, and there are no long-term contracts.
We assign a designated carer, with a familiar second carer for cover. With overnight care seven nights a week, the second carer is included at no extra placement charge to cover rest periods, sick days and short-notice absences.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the carer stay awake all night?
+
Yes — our overnight carers provide a waking service: awake and on hand for whatever the night brings, resting only once your loved one is settled. It is never a sleep-through service.
Will it be the same carer each night?
+
Yes — we assign a designated overnight carer, with a familiar second carer for cover, so your loved one sees consistent faces.
Can we book occasional nights, or just after a hospital stay?
+
Absolutely. As well as ongoing weekly cover, we arrange one-off nights and short runs of overnight care — including the first weeks at home after a discharge.
Is there a setup or placement fee?
+
Yes. A one-time placement fee covers the work of assigning your carer and setting up the placement. Your care manager includes it in your quote, and a replacement carer never costs extra.
