What is live-in care?
Live-in care is when a carer lives in your home to help with daily tasks and provide companionship. The aim is to help you or your loved one stay safely and comfortably at home, rather than moving into a care home or nursing home.
Because your carer lives in and gets to know your routine, with a familiar second carer for cover, live-in care gives a continuity that is hard to get when different carers call in for short visits.
Our carers do not give injections, dress wounds or administer insulin. With medication, they give prompts and reminders. For other needs, such as catheter care or home oxygen, talk to your nurse-trained care manager, who will tell you honestly what we can take on. We are a private, independent provider, separate from the HSE. We work alongside your GP, public health nurse and hospital team, who stay in charge of medical care.
How live-in care works
On our Flex plan, your live-in carer provides 8 hours of care a day, spread through the day to fit your routine. They are usually around the home through the day, much as a family member would be. Overnight the carer can stay in the home but is off duty, so there is no active care at night on Flex.
If you need active care around the clock, our Constant plan uses a small team of carers working 12-hour shifts, so there is active care through the night as well as the day.
Carers on 7-day packages typically work flexible patterns with time off. We also assign a familiar secondary carer to cover rest periods, sick days and, where possible, short-notice absences, to help keep support continuous. If an HSE care package is already in place, our care works alongside it.
Two ways to arrange live-in care
Constant
A small team of carers provides cover around the clock, so someone is awake and on hand day and night. It suits higher-dependency needs.
Flex
A carer lives in the home and provides your agreed active care hours through the day, plus the reassurance of a carer resting in the home overnight.

Orla Daly
For the last 8 months Mum has had two very kind carers fulfilling her wish to stay in her own home. The peace of mind is well worth it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the carer have to live in the home full time?
+
No. Our carers have their own homes and may return to them when they are off duty.
Will I have the same carer consistently?
+
Yes. You will have a designated primary carer, available except when on leave, on holiday, or unwell — when a reliable secondary carer familiar to the family and client steps in.
Can I decide which days and hours the carer works?
+
Yes, you can specify the days and hours in accordance with your package. The number of days is flexible; a 24/7 package means a carer is available every day of the week.
Is there a setup or placement fee?
+
Yes. A one-time placement fee covers the work of assigning your carer and setting up the placement. Your care manager includes it in your quote, and a replacement carer never costs extra.
